Whoa, whoa, whoa. I just found out that IKEA uses computer-generated graphics for 75% of their catalogue images. Which makes total sense, but I hadn’t realised they are practically building all of their rooms in 3D on computers — sound familiar??
"We also created our own movement mode we call “Pick and Place’ - you actually just pick things up and place them on geometry and things settle and is automatically linked to it as a child. With another tool you could drop fruit in a bowl, for example, and it settles realistically."
Also, apparently they are always looking for 3D artists.
Here appears a Nimi selfsim, made out of curiosity.
The game itself is increasingly off-putting to me (mostly for reasons that might not bother anyone else, but if EAxis puts a house in a nice little cosy spot, I want to move my Sims there and not have it be decoration only! Sandbox anyone?) …but I wanted to give the demo a whirl. This girl appeared in the randomization at some point and I only had to tweak her in minor points. Which is kind of odd when you think about it. I probably have doppelgängers out there! Although she lacks that sparkle in my eye which I never managed to recreate in Sims ;)
I gave her the dream of Musical Genius, and the traits of Romantic, Perfectionist and Loves The Outdoors. Even though there are way more that could apply; I think these have the most impact gamewise?
Edit: Randomized girl had red hair and green eyes; she looked Irish. There is definitely a Gaelic connection thing going on even in my facial structure, even though technically I’m 3/4 Dutch and 1/4 Czech!
Is your travel harp going to be finished this summer? :D Also good your relationship went down well…that’s something that doesn’t often happen.
I *just* finished sanding and plan to apply varnish, install hardware pins, and string it in the coming days, so yes totally! :D See I’d love to take it with me on summercamp so I’m doing a final sprint :3
It was super hard and sad and scary to let go… but we let go together, and it’s just the best thing for both of us really, taking the next step of growth and learning to be confident and shining and loving on our own. Giving the friendship a second chance now it’s not being suffocated in expectations. Not to say that I’m not mourning the loss of all those things that were so dear to me… it seems we sometimes have to learn through deeply felt loss… but I am very grateful for everything we had, the way it ended/transformed, and the life lessons I am learning from this experience.
Also all the inspiration and lively energy and the regained sense of “I can follow my own twinkly trail of dreams and I don’t have to answer to anyone else”? Worth it.
Sorry for suddenly disappearing again. My first serious relationship of 2,5 years came to a sudden end last week. I’ve been processing, getting used to the situation, and working on this little travel harp I’m building.
It was a good and friendly breakup though. A good relationship too, but we had started growing in different directions. Now we’re both free spirits again and I’ve got my sparkle back!
Going on a summer camp next week and doing other holiday stuff and other creative things — and all too soon September will roll around and my masters will be starting! — so I can’t say when I’ll be back… but I know that I will be back. Because they always come back. In my case, for the terrains and the sky pictures. :)
I hope you all have a lovely summer <3
As it’s lost in a forgotten MTS post, I’m linking here to a message where I made a recap of how to create custom vacation subhoods, custom hidden vacation lots (complete with Witch Doctor, Bigfoot or Wise Old), custom locals, and tourists (how I do it anyway).
It’s been a secret dream to do this some day. Thanks for this recap — I think I read about it too years ago, and then I thought it must be possible to turn them into installable subhoods as well? (Copying the files to Program Files, perhaps as a replacement for the default subhoods.)
simsoversleep, do you want to join forces? ;)
444 FOLLOWERS GIFT PART 2/2 - SC4 TERRAINS
What would one of my followers gifts be without some terrains, these ones were made with holiday destinations in mind, mainly Cornwall (Brightbutter) and the Lake District (Woodwyn), both beautiful places that I 10/10 would recommend you go.
Brightbutter (can be seen in this post)
Surrounded by sea, with little bits of land in the middle to break up the blue abyss (and to make use of pretty water floors), got plenty of mountains for
goatsfarming deco, too. Has a small cliff area up top, which due to weathering will probably cease to exist in several generations.
Mountainous, very mountainous. Situated at the end of one of the tributaries of the nearby lake. Plenty of room to make a quaint fishing neighbourhood, or a mountain holiday destination. There’s even room for Bigfoot on his own little plot of land across the river!
Would you look at that, it’s two clever and beautiful terrains that I think would be really fun to play in!
Reblogging in part because they would even fit some of the requests I’ve been getting :)
Found this in LJ scrapbook. jodeliejodelie and other Dutch simmers (keoni-chan voleste ?) this is how I attempted to build canals with low wharfs a long time ago. More in this album. For your reference should you want to try for yourself :) It’s 3 ‘hood tiles wide, centre tile lowered with neighbourhood cheat. Thinking out loud one could try moving a 1-tile lot over the canal banks with Lot Adjuster to get waterfront townhouses…
Moar skies — now for you!
In honour of this little project I made a livejournal download post. The pictures have already appeared here on tumblr, but now you can go and download it to place in your own neighbourhoods. Yay!
If you want to comment, see you over there! Would love to see what you do with them too :)
Lazy, languid summer days… :)
Some more cloudscapes.
